A12:
Pursuant to what li long's post regarding econs time tabling for next year, I would like to provide some more details and some clarification.
Firstly, our class will be split into two for econs tutorials for the reasons as cited by li long. This is to faciliate more time for individuals to participate and ask during classroom tutorials as I have noticed that some of you are not able to do so this year because the class size is just too big along with the 1-hour per period constraint, which is not long enough to faciliate a good discussion. The opportunity cost is just too high, To me, a class size of 15-18 is ideal with smaller classes even better. Hence, with a size of 28, this may be far from ideal.
This is the reason for the split. The idea is not entirely my own, the school also thinks likewise and in fact, it is the school management that has decided on the split to 2 smaller groups and I concur with it. Henceforth, there would be two groups of 16 and 12. The split is based on the overall results with the latter group might be smaller because some of you might wish to drop to H1 econs next year.
In fact, it is not just our class that will be split; 07a13 likewise would be re-grouped into two for next year's tutorials as well as some other classes. However, the split is just for econs tutorials. I will remain as your CT and the 29 of us will move together in the same class for year 2.
Now, the problem comes with time-tabling. The time tabling committee would still consider 07A12 as a single class, as the split is only for econs tutorials. This would mean that I cannot be at two groups at the same time (you would have seen this in your math tutorials this year- there would be two teachers for each of the group).
As I do not wish to pass on the not so strong group to another teacher, ie, I would take this smaller group. The other bigger group would go to another teacher. The teacher would not be mdm fok but mdm yeoh, another teacher whom you all may not have known too well because she did not lecture in our group this year.
So, the poll is this: do you wish to continue with me for the both groups? If yes, then the drawback would be your time table would be stretched longer, ie, you may have lessons that stretched later into the latter part of the day, ie, you would have a longer lesson schedule. I am sure you could envisage that, because the arrangement will mean that when we are having a tutorial for one group, the other will have a break, and vice versa.
If you give me a overwhelming response that you all do not mind, then this gives me the impetus to ask the time tabling to do the necessary adjustment.
However, I could not promise that our request will be met. The time tabling committee might think that it is not wise to do so. Meanwhile, I was aready told that I would be taking 07A13 for econs tutorial. However, I would try to ask for a swap if you all are agreeable to having continuity, hence how strong your views on this would give me an indication of how strong should we pursue with the time tabling committee. Please voice your opinions in this blog as I could read and transparent to all.
Cheers!
NB- I have booked the comp lab E306 for OP pracitces for Monday 29 Oct from 9.30 onwards.

Yes, as much as your time table would be stretched longer, mine would also likewise be longer. However, I am prepared for that and wouldn't be too taxing on me, thanks for being so considerate.
However, it seems that the response is about equal as seen from the poll, hence, I will leave it to the time tabling committee to decide what they think is the best for us.
Anyway if you could please show your name so that we could know whose opinion is that instead of being in anonymity. Thanks.

Another disadvantage if i do not take both groups would be that i could only see one group during CT period, and next year being your graduating year, there would be lots of admin, ie, testimonials and reports for your uni applications, that need to be written by CT. Hence, to faciliate all these i would need to be familiar with your learning progress and i wouldn't be able to give a real perspective if i do not teach you in econs.
