I'd recommend a film called "Letters From Iwo Jima" (NC-16) - a very emotional war drama told from the perspective of the Japanese. I just caught it at the cinema and I can tell y'all the ticket was worth every of my penny...

Anyone interested? We still have a long way before the closing deadline...

Dear students

The President's Award for Teachers (PAT), gives
national recognition to the critical role teachers play in moulding the future
of our nation. These excellent teachers prepare their students for
life. They are models of commitment to continual learning and
enterprise. They are those who, through word and deed, inspire both their
students and peers.

The award will be presented by the
President of the Republic of Singapore on Teachers' Day. At least one
primary school teacher and one secondary school/junior college/centralised
institute teacher will receive the award.

The award will be used
for professional development and personal enrichment and includes an
expense-paid trip overseas for this purpose. The recipient of the PAT will
be involved in the professional development of fellow
teachers.

Nominees of the award should be teachers who:
- Are
presently in service in a primary or secondary school, a junior college or a
centralised institute;
- Have shown utmost concern for the character and
moral development of students by word and personal example
- Motivate,
challenge, inspire and help students to find the potential within
themselves
- Welcome enterprise, innovation, curiosity and creativity in
students

Nomination for PAT 2007 is now opened for nomination. The
closing date for nomination is 5 March 2007.

I would strongly urge
you to nominate deserving teachers for the award. I have attached the nomination
form, please submit in a sealed envelope to college reception by 5 March 2007.

There is no better way of celebrating Teachers' Day by giving them
the highest recognition for their effort, influence and motivation that made you
what you are today.

Regards
Mr Chan Kwok Leong

____ JTS ____

The supposed meeting time was 1745, but lateness is a Singapore culture, so it took around an hour for almost all to reach the designated meeting area, novena mrt, and the two troops (senior A12 and junior A12) marched off the The Vine for a four course meal.

Dinner was set in a Prince-like environment, but the food was defintely 10000000000 times better than the food in the infamous coro restaurant. Appetizer of apple chicken salad, a soup, 3 choices for main course (chicken with lamb, sirloin and fish and prawns), and a dessert of brownie served with ice-cream. In total we took up two table of fourteen seats, two tables of sixteen seats and possibly an extra two seats. As can be seen, turnout was rather good for JTS. Though it burned a pocket through our class fund, generally, everyone had nothing much to say about the food, except perhaps, for the stone-hard sirloin.

Dinner ended after a great two hours, when all seniors and juniors have finished their meal, and all moved on to novena square, where, after travelling a round of the first level, all proceeded to the MRT, with an initial plan to go to dhoby ghaut for more bonding-sessions.

Alas, when the whole gang reached the train station, Job and Yuanxin left the group for the other train heading towards Jurong East via Woodlands, while the rest hopped on the train towards Marina Bay. Then, as the trained stopped by stations leading towards Dhoby Ghaut, more and more people left the group, and by the time the gang reached Dhoby Ghaut, only a handful of seniors stayed, but in the end, all but one left to take the purple line, along with the FAVOURITE treasurer.

Thus, in the end the group was left with Kaixin, Meixuan, Szuan, Edlyn, Siying, Ewe, Lilong, Zhuchuan, Ruian, Wanglin, Jonathan, Kiantat, Mingyeung and our senior, Weimin. Led by Ruian, Wanglin and Jonathan, all moved towards the arcade, where Ruian, Wanglin and Jonathan indulged in para para, wowing the rest of the class with their hidden talents in dancing. The rest split off to their respective games, where the girls show off their violent side in Bishi-Bashi, a game that Meixuan practically own others in; our senior and Zhuchuan involved in the basketball shootout, where precision is king; and of course, the classic Daytona, which has proved that guys drive better than girls, and Kiantat displays in ultra driving skill, rather unexpectedly actually.

Soon, our CT's rep father came, and the group split off, leaving the three para para kings and weimin in the arcade, and Kaixin left the group to home via the purple line. The rest, a total of nine people, squeezed in Lilong's four-seater. A terrible feat which almost marked the end of Lilong's football career, the revelation of Zhuchuan's sickness, and the start of brokeback relationship of Kiantat and Mingyeung. With Meixuan on Lilong, Edlyn on Zhuchuan, Kiantat on Mingyeung, Siying by the side, and Ewe and Szuan comfortably seated right in front, both fell confortably asleep *gasp* along the way. The whole team of Edlyn, Meixuan, Ewe, Siying, Kiantat and Mingyeung got dropped off at ten mile, where a bus towards Woodlands was taken. And thereafter, home sweet home for everyone.

This is life.

I received an Email recently.
So just wanna share with all of you.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Photo 1: I want to go to school

Caption on the photo:

That day the English teacher arrived in our village.

She taught us our very first sentence in English: "I want go to school."

Did you hear it? It is a most heart-moving cry.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Photo 2: Mother's Love

Mother & their child. This is life.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Photo 3: Old Man Crying
The old man sells roast yam for a living.
Because he doesn't have a license, his tools were confiscated and his tricycle was smashed, its chain cut.
All the old man can do is to sit there and cry.
How is his tomorrow.?
---------------------------------------------------------------
Photo 4: Love

The father and his son live in an impoverished hilly area.
They demand nothing but a piece of land to call their own.
Perhaps they will not have a chance to see the outside world all their lives -- they will not know what a staircase is, they will never ride in a taxi, nor will they everstep into a movie theater.
But the truth is these are the people who offer us everything our lives depend on, generation after generation.
The heaven and earth have nothing to repay them. Love them!
---------------------------------------------------------------
Photo 5: Together, Through warm & cold
Beyond the northern (Inner Mongolia) frontier, spring has arrived but the cold weather lingered on. Snow fell on this April morning. Flakes danced in the sky.
A middle-aged man tended to his cart, on which sat a littleboy, wrapped up with blanket used to keep the vegetables from freezing.
From time to time, the father would tuck at the blanket to make sure that his son was all right.
These are the words from the photographer: "Set in the dark and shadowy background and the dancing snow flakes, the pinkpuffy face of the little boy stood out in great contrast to that of the father which was apparently shaped by the caprices of life. And life wasindeed harsh. Father and son only have each other for support. When the father yelled out a sales pitch on top of his voice, his facial expression was shockingly touching. One cannot help but be moved."
---------------------------------------------------------------
Photo 6: Spirit to Live

No rose, no diamond ring, but if this is not love, what is love?
With enthusiasm, love your life! Love the people around you!
---------------------------------------------------------------
When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look, you most likely turned your back on the world. It might sound cliche, but we should really be thankful for what we have. Love your life & appreciate the people around you.
Most people walk in and out of our life ...... but FRIENDS leave footprints in our heart.
Wish everyone a great piggy year ahead... :)

Thankz so much. Thankz for constantly reminding us to think for those who are not as fortunate as we do.

Do think of these people when we choose to eat Fast food instead of eating at food centres. Do think of them when we buy so many (expensive)presents during Valentine's day. I feel so guilty whenever I throw away food which I dislike...

You know it's Valentine's Day when you reach school, walk past the usually dead-until-sian-diao canteen, and find it brimming with people, balloons floating about and *!* lots of people holding assortments of flowers walking around with a huge smile plastered across the face.

Oh well. Today is also the day when we find the humourous side of Mdm Yeo, our darling H2 Maths tutor.

-Scene 1-
Venue: A402
Time: 14th Feb 2007, nearing 11, math lesson

Siying: *feeling hungry* Eh Wanglin, can give me your cookies?

Wanglin: You want ah? Nah. *passes cookies with 3 cookies*

Siying: *shocked* Eh, really? *very shocked* Eh! Why you got THREE COOKIES! I only have TWO leh! Not fair! Lilong also have one big one and one small one. Why mine is only two small one! Sheng Bingyu!

Bingyu: *blur diao* Huh, cos he's is small one mah.

Siying: Mine is two small ones leh! His is three small ones!

Bingyu: *very blur* I don't know! Ask huijun!

Siying: Chia Huijun!

Huijun: *guilty look* *pretends to sleep*

Mdm Yeo: *randomly* Aiya, 减肥!减肥!

- End of Scene 1-

HAHA, I think Mdm Yeo is damn funny. And sorry if Siying appeared like a greedy and petty pig, cos she was hungry! And she believes in equality of gender! Yea!

Moral of story: Bake all your cookies the same size.

Ok, here's a tutorial on the comment system! So, upon the end of reading a blog, you should see a grey box. In this case, I'm using the first post as an example. So! After reading the entry, you should see something like this:

Yepp, so clicking on the +++ I want to shout too! +++, a pop up would appear:

So, click on the orange box, you are done!

Of course, there is still our trusty tagboard, located on the right of our blog, scroll done to see this:

Another story to share:

+++ Puppies for Sale +++

A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell. He painted a sign advertising the pups and set about Nailing it to a post on the edge of his yard. As he was driving the last nail into the post, he Felt a tug on his overalls. He looked down into the Eyes of a little boy. Mister," he said, "I want to buy one of your puppies."

"Well," said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat off the back of his neck, "these puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal of money."

The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching deep into his pocket, he pulled out a handful of change and held it up to the farmer. "I've got thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?"

"Sure," said the farmer.

And with that he let out a whistle,"Here,Dolly!" he called.

Out from the doghouse and down the ramp ran Dolly followed by four little balls of fur. The little boy pressed his face against the chain link fence. His eyes danced with delight.

As the dogs made their way to the fence, the little boy noticed something else stirring inside the doghouse. Slowly another little ball appeared; this One noticeably smaller. Down the ramp it slid. Then in a somewhat awkward manner the little pup began hobbling toward the others, doing its best to catch up....

"I want that one," the little boy said, pointing to the runt.

The farmer knelt down at the boy's side and said, "Son, you don't want that puppy. He will never be able to run and play with you like these other dogs would."

With that the little boy stepped back from the fence, reached down, and began rolling up one leg of his trousers. In doing so he revealed a steel brace running down both sides of his leg attaching itself To a specially made shoe. Looking back up at the farmer, he said, "You see sir, I don't run too well myself, and he will need Someone who understands."

The world is full of people who need someone who understands.

Chinese
Examinations last year and would like to appeal to MOE about
your results,
please attend a meeting on 13th Feb (Tuesday) at 3.30
p.m. in LT3 (High
School Section). More details will be provided at
the meeting.

Only
students with a difference of at least a difference of 3 grades
between
Prelim and GCE 'O' Level results and who wish to make the
appeals need
attend the meeting.

Should you be unable to attend the meeting, please
drop me an email
at yeohj@hc.edu.sg to indicate your intention. You are also
required to include your contact number in your email.

[Please help
to convey the message to your peers who may have the

Hey people!

If not for the stupid csc test, we probably would be somewhere having our jts cum 庆功宴 for Rui-an, like RIGHT NOW.

Oh well =(

Haha, how come in the end only huijun went to donate blood? You know there'll be another blood donation drive in July? (Please check your EMB) YEA, so go donate la. 450ml. Wouldn't die one.

As for me, I wanted to donate (really!) but my blood pressure was too low -.- Yea, so I shall eat more before going for the donation drive in July, like 6 meals everyday for a week right =p

Anyway, people, please feed mingyeung who needs to gain 10kg. And please stop feeding derek. Haha!

Oh sheesh I've only read two sets of notes so far. DIE LIAO LA. And I feel like sleeping -.-

Oh heh, anyone video-ed the dramafeste or took pictures of it? Put it up leh. I like missed it totally.

Dramafeste! :)

Hey everyone!

Tomorrow's Dramafeste opening night and as many of you may have known I'm acting in it! I'm so heartened to see that so many of you are coming down tomorrow! :)

Just hope that you guys can cheer as much as possible tomorrow for ARES (at the right moments of course), as the cast, crew and the fac comm has worked really hard since rehearsals began weeks ago. Yea, we have some stiff competition for the other facs, but we'll defend our championship by putting up a great show for all of you!

But most importantly, as a school play, as opposed to a theatre production, audience response will really have a lot more impact on both the actors' morale and the entire feel of the show. So cheer and clap for ARES! Oh ya, don't let the people from other facs who MAY have intentions of spoiling our show succeed in their malicious intents! Not that I want to be accusatory, but something likkdat happened last year. And we are the very first fac to perform, so must set the benchmark very high for the other facs!

Oh yah, if you all dont have tickets, you all can try to sneak in! Haha, heard a lot of people did that last year. It's going to be a total blast of a night tomorrow and as well as Friday as from what I hear from seniors, the LT will be like completely packed and everyone will be high! XD Don't miss it!

Oh yea, Edlyn and Han Zhi are involved as well! As backstage crew and make-up respectively. So show your support for all of us tomorrow! ARESSSSSSS! May ARES sweep all the awards on Friday!

Cheers,
Rui An

Found a rather nice story, thought I should share.

DON'T WE ALL

I was parked in front of the mall wiping off my car. I had just come from the car wash and was waiting for my wife to get out of work. Coming my way from across the parking lot was what society would consider a bum. From the looks of him, he had no car, no home, no clean clothes, and no money. There are times when you feel generous but there are other times that you just don't want to be bothered. This was one of those "don't want to be bothered times." "I hope he doesn't ask me for any money," I thought. He didn't. He came and sat on the curb in front of the bus stop but he didn't look like he could have enough money to even ride the bus. After a few minutes he spoke. "That's a very pretty car," he said. He was ragged but he had an air of dignity around him. His scraggly blond beard keep more than his face warm. I said, "thanks," and continued wiping off my car.

He sat there quietly as I worked. The expected plea for money never came. As the silence between us widened something inside said, "ask him if he needs any help." I was sure that he would say "yes" but I held true to the inner voice. "Do you need any help?" I asked. He answered in three simple but profound words that I shall never forget. We often look for wisdom in great men and women. We expect it from those of higher learning and accomplishments.

I expected nothing but an outstretched grimy hand. He spoke the three words that shook me.

"Don't we all?" he said.

I was feeling high and mighty, successful and important, above a bum in the street, until those three words hit me like a twelve gauge shotgun. Don't we all? I needed help. Maybe not for bus fare or a place to sleep, but I needed help. I reached in my wallet and gave him not only enough for bus fare, but enough to get a warm meal and shelter for the day. Those three little words still ring true. No matter how much you have, no matter how much you have accomplished, you need help too. No matter how little you have, no matter how loaded you are with problems, even without money or a place to sleep, you can give help.

Even if it's just a compliment, you can give that. You never know when you may see someone that appears to have it all. They are waiting on you to give them what they don't have. A different perspective on life, a glimpse at something beautiful, a respite from daily chaos, that only you through a torn world can see. Maybe the man was just a homeless stranger wandering the streets. Maybe he was more than that.

Maybe he was sent by a power that is great and wise, to minister to a soul too comfortable in themselves.

Maybe God looked down, called an Angel, dressed him like a bum, then said, "go minister to that man cleaning the car, that man needs help." Don't we all?

I LOVE CLL!

青山横北郭,白水绕东城。
此地一为别,孤蓬万里征。
浮云游子意,落日故人情。
挥手自兹去,萧萧班马鸣。

=( So SAD.

Hey hey people!

I was about to go to sleep, but haha, I realised it's midnight!

Anyway, fyi, today marks the first day of a wager I made with a friend: to eat healthy.

Yepp! Which means, I'm not supposed to touch all kinds of junk for TEN DAYS, including sweets, chocolates, sweetened drinks and chips and stuff like that.

Yea man. So people help me control myself k! Haha. Don't pass me sweets in class ><

by milk-cookies @ 12:26 AM

Hey people! Do you notice any change to this blog?

If you don't, you can bang your head against the screen, like now! *smiles sweetly*

Yepp, changed the blogskin so it screams A12 now! And this blog has really really become our OWN blog, from the design to the contents...

Thank you bingyu for the design. If you people found it familiar, don't be surprised. It was originally one of the designs for our class flag.

The calendar is still here, just that you need to CLICK to get it. The link is at the top of the column on the right. There are infomation on the tests that we know of. Thanks Denyse for updating!

Yepp. Enjoy the skin, and meanwhile, blog-comment-tag!
